When I was a kid, I thought I invented being a fangirl. Growing up before the nerd revolution, it definitely wasn't cool to love Star Trek. Or know every word to Ghostbusters or know that Han shot first. At least not for a girl, not in my experience. I went to college once, but didn't get anything out of it. At 30, I decided to go back and do it right. I'm studying Visual Effects at the Savannah College of Art and Design. It's hard as hell and I love it. I'm really inspired by you girls today, at school and on tumblr who proudly wear your fandom colors. And to now be able to get online and see how many others there are out there, into the same things you are. It really wasn't like that for me growing up, it's so awesome to see it now!
